Retrospective exhibitions followed at the Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster (1972), and most notably, at the Tate Gallery in London (1976), cementing his status as a major figure in British art history. Even outside of traditional fine art, Phillips left his mark, designing the iconic Granada Television idents and endboards featuring the “G-arrow” in 1995 – a testament to his ability to translate artistic principles into broader cultural contexts. Today, over thirty of his prints reside within the Tate Collection, ensuring his work continues to inspire and challenge audiences. Following the death of his wife Claude-Marion Phillips in 2004, a retrospective exhibition was held in her honor, acknowledging their shared creative journey.
