Theodor Hummel was a German painter born in Schliersee. He began his formal training by attending a preparatory class at the Munich School of Applied Arts before studying at the Munich Academy under Nikolaus Gysis and Ludwig von Löfftz. His professional involvement in the art community was significant; he was a member of the Munich Secession, the Berlin Secession, and the German Artists' Association. Throughout his career, he held various teaching positions, including leading a drawing school for ladies and teaching landscape at the Munich Academy of Women Artists. In 1909, he was appointed as a professor, and he later became an honorary member of the Munich Academy.
