His organic creations contrast with China’s industrial milieu. This unique piece of furniture portrays the overwhelming power of the elements to re-assimilate natural materials into the landscape. After observing how the sun and wind had returned the discarded timber of demolished houses to its natural form, Zheng created a series of chairs that appear to emerge from the earth. By creating a conduit between nature and the nurtured environment, each piece resonates with a gentle reverence for age-old Chinese craft traditions.
