During his time in France, he became a frequent exhibitor at the annual Paris Salon, showing twenty-eight paintings between 1836 and 1850. He was known for creating large-scale panoramic images featuring numerous figures, often based on actual portraits. Beyond the battlefield, he was a portrait painter of notable figures and specialized in large gatherings of officials and celebrities.
