Sam Gilliam, născut pe 30 noiembrie 1933 în Tupelo, Mississippi, și decedat pe 25 iunie 2022, a fost mult mai mult decât un simplu pictor; a fost un inovator care a transformat fundamental modul în care percepem arta.
