His early training was rooted in the disciplined, painstaking "meticulary brush" manner, a technique requiring absolute control over line and heavy mineral pigments. However, Zheng’s journey was never destined to remain within the confines of historical replication. By moving toward the intellectual rigor of Yale University, he began to weave the ancient threads of Eastern calligraphy into the complex tapestry of Western abstraction.
