James Irvine

James Irvine was an industrial designer. Born in London, he spent much of his career navigating the relationship between geometric forms and the people who use them. After studying at Kingston Polytechnic and the Royal College of Art in London, he moved to Milan in 1984. This move placed him at the center of a specific way of thinking about objects. He began working as a consultant for Olivetti, where he
sat under the direction of Michele De Lucchi and Ettore Sottsass. His work during these years was defined by a focus on precision and the end user.
