Born into an Italian immigrant family in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ángel Della Valle emerged as a pivotal figure within the prestigious "Generation of '80." His early life was marked by both academic rigor and profound personal loss; after his father passed away in 1871, the young artist sought further refinement of his talents abroad. With the support of his mother, he traveled to Italy, where he immersed
himself in the classical traditions of Florence under the guidance of the master Antonio Ciseri. This period of European study provided him with a sophisticated technical foundation that he would later transplant into the fertile soil of his homeland.
