Stephen Bone (1904–1958): Een Schilder van Licht en Stilte Stephen Bone was geboren in Chiswick, Londen, het zoon van de bekroonde kunstenaar Sir Muirhead Bone en auteur Gertrude Helena Dodd. Deze artistieke achtergrond binnen een familie vormde een belangrijke basis voor zijn vroegste ontwikkeling. Hij volgde zijn opleiding aan Bedales School voordat hij zich aangaf bij de Slade School of Fine Art in 1922, waar hij onder leiding stond van Henry Tonks. Ondanks het formele karakter van de Slade verliet Bone deze in 1924 om zich te wijden aan boekillustratie, waarbij hij zijn oog voor gedetail…
