          Arthur William Devis (1762–1822): Nežna ruka portreta i povijesti

          Arthur William Devis (19. veljače 1712. – 25. srpnja 1787.) bio je engleski slikar čiji je otac, Anthony, bio utemeljitelj obiteljske dinastije slikara i pisaca. Mjesto koje Arthur Devis zauzima u povijesti umjetnosti uglavnom je vezano uz njegov rad u žanru portreta koji danas nazivamo conversation piece. Nakon preseljenja u London i stažiranja kod flamanskog topografskog umjetnika, okrenuo se portretiranju i stekao značajnu reputaciju, iako taj uspjeh nije trajao vječno.
