The Convergence of Algorithm and Gesture
Born in 1960, Cédric Dubois has emerged as a pivotal figure in the contemporary digital landscape, redefining the boundaries between organic expression and computational logic. His practice is deeply rooted in the Albert Oehlen Generative Abstraction style, where he orchestrates a complex dialogue between dynamic gestural brushwork and the precision of digital fragments. In his work, we witness a profound exploration of digital chaos, transformed into a sophisticated visual language that balances aggressive color transitions with a curated sense of structural equilibrium.
A Mastery of Hybrid Abstraction
Dubois's technique is characterized by a unique hybrid abstract-computer aesthetic. By layering algorithmic shapes over painterly textures, he creates a luminous structure that challenges the viewer's perception of depth and materiality. Each piece serves as an experimental space where light and form collide, evoking a sense of tactile silence amidst the visual noise. His ability to manipulate digital artifacts into fluid, atmospheric compositions allows him to bridge the gap between the historical gaze of classical abstraction and the frontier of modern generative art.
