Joyce Wellman’s artistic journey began in Sheffield, England, where she was born into a family steeped in intellectual curiosity and artistic appreciation. Her father, Ronald Wilfred Matthews, served as Chairman of the Royal Infirmary, fostering an environment that encouraged exploration and engagement with the wider world – values which would undoubtedly shape her own creative pursuits.
