Vida Temprana y Formación Nació Thomas Struth el 11 de octubre de 1954 en Geldern, Alemania. Sus padres fueron Gisela Struth (cerámica) y Heinrich Struth (director de banco). De 1973 a 1980, estudió en la Academia Estatal de Bellas Artes de Düsseldorf. Inicialmente se enfocó en pintura bajo Peter Kleemann y luego, desde 1974, bajo Gerhard Richter.
