Early Life and Influences
Johan August Malmström, born in Motala, Sweden in 1829, embarked on an artistic journey shaped by the burgeoning Swedish National Romanticism movement. This era championed folklore, mythology—particularly Norse legends—and a fervent connection to the nation’s heritage.
