Lari Pittman (b. 1952, Los Angeles, CA) is an American painter whose distinctive visual language—characterized by ornate ornamentation, narrative complexity, and a fascination with the interplay between color and text—has cemented his place as one of the most influential artists of his generation. Born in Los Angeles to parents who met during his father’s travels abroad in Colombia, Pittman's upbringing instilled in him an appreciation for cultural diversity and artistic experimentation from a young age.
