January 1854 brings Robert Hermann Raudner into the world at Nimkau in Silesia. He is the son of a telegraphist. The path toward the canvas begins in earnest in October 1878, when he enters the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He joins the antique class, focusing his early efforts on drawing after the antique.

The momentum of his career reaches its conclusion in Munich. On 14 January 1915, Raudner dies at the age of 60. His connection to the region remains etched into the geography of Schleißheim, where a street bears his name. He leaves behind a body of work defined by the Realism movement and the disciplined techniques learned in the Munich Academy.
