His father, Johann Leopold Daffinger, a painter at the esteemed Imperial Porcelain Manufactory, laid the foundation for Moritz’s early immersion in the world of art. Daffinger's role extended beyond painting portraits for Metternich; he also became curator of the Foreign Minister’s extensive portrait collection, belonging to Princess Melanie.
