escola nacional de belas artes. in 1929, he traveled to europe, where he studied at the
académie de la grande chaumière in paris.

cícero dias de carvalho mentored several painters, including iberê camargo, vera mindlin, and alcides da rocha miranda. in 1944, he was invited by juscelino kubitschek to establish a drawing and painting program at the
instituto de belas artes (now guignard university of art of minas gerais) in belo horizonte.
later life and passing
cícero dias de carvalho lived in belo horizonte until his passing in 2003. his body was entombed in the church of são francisco de assis in ouro preto.
