Portrait of Monsieur and Madame Edouard Manet is oil on canvas painting by the French artist Edgar Degas. It is painted in 1868-69. Degas painted his fellow-artist listening to his wife playing the piano
Mme Manet was considered a particularly gifted player of German music. Degas gave the painting to Manet
but the latter was dissatisfied with Suzanne’s face and cut the canvas accordingly. The painting is now in the collection of the Municipal Museum of Art, Kitakyushu, Japan.
