"Nude with Calla Lilies"

Diego Rivera (i) - Oil On Panel (i) - 157 x 124 cm - 1944 - Art Deco (i)
Diego Rivera's artwork "Nude With Calla Lilies" depicts a naked man surrounded by Calla Lilies. In 1944, he created Nude with Calla Lilies, one of the few pieces he completed that year.He shared this ability with Frida Kahlo, another very famous Mexican painter. Both of their depictions of peasant life were normally on small canvases, though Rivera is best known for his huge mural scenes The artwork was completed shortly after his two large murals at the National Institute of Cardiology and before the monumental mural Tenochtitlan. Rivera, predictably, excels at depicting more modest situations, and he repeatedly praised the bond between peasants and nature. Rivera praised the calla lily, a sensuous, sculptural bloom that is a classic example of Mexico's exuberant flora, in paintings depicting peasants with indigenous characteristics carrying bund.
